Mary Bajcz - Free Cut Piecing

I've made quilts for about 35 years and am constantly delighted by the endless ways fabrics can be combined into a beautiful and useful quilt - art that can keep you warm.

I enjoy the serendipity in quilt making.  I start out with an idea, assemble a pile of fabrics, start cutting and sewing and watch to see if good things happen.   They usually do.

I also make smaller art quilts, reversible silk jackets, and loads of handbags.  About 12 years ago I discovered "free cut piecing", a technique that lets me "draw" with my rotary cutter.  It's my artistic voice!

I also knit,  hook rugs, and make lots of handbags.

Kathy learned to knit in childhood, and took it up again after moving to a farm in Chelsea, Michigan in 1998.  She volunteers at WaterlooHistoricalMuseum demonstrating spinning on a wheel and drop spindle, felting and weaving.   She raises fiber animals: alpacas, llamas, angora goats and angora rabbits on her small farm.

Suzanne Pufpaff Creating A Striped Yarn from Solid Colored Rovings; Designing A Custom Fit Entrelac Garment

Suzanne has been involved with natural fibers and fabrics most of her life, beginning with 4-H knitting and sewing as a child, then raising most of the different fiber animals at one time or another as an adult. She knits, spins, weaves, sews, felts and has been running a small custom carding operation on her farm since 2002. Sue Schalk -      Felted "Cobweb" Scarves; Make Your Own Self Stripping Sock Yarn; Silk Scarf Painting

Sue learned to crochet from her aunt when she was a young girl. From there her interest in fiber and textiles has grown over the years and you can often find her doing demonstrations or at the local farmer’s market in Saline.  Sue works with natural fibers from beginning to end, hand processing, spinning, dying, knitting or crocheting items, as well as weaving.  She has won several awards for her weaving, hand spinning, and crocheted items from the Saline and Michigan State Fairs.  Sue and her husband own Two Branch Ranch in Saline, MI and raise alpacas; she often holds classes at the farm on a variety of fiber related topics.  Sue is also a member of the Spinner’s Flock hand-spinning guild in Chelsea, MI.  Contact Sue at sueschalk@gmail.com

Annette Shaffer - Hook A Silky Flower Pin & Sheep Pin Workshop, Hook A Sheep

Annette Shaffer of Annie’s Wool Works has been rug hooking since 1995.  She began hooking in the traditional, primitive style with wool strips but now also incorporates yarns, ribbons, silky fabrics and whatever strikes her fancy.  Her hooking includes shaped and cut-out pieces as well as three dimensional and free standing pieces.  Annette enjoys teaching and sharing the creative possibilities of rug hooking with others.  Visit her website, annieswoolworks.com to see what dimensional rug hooking is all about.

Annette Talor - Australian Locker Hooking

I have been doing locker hooking for almost 10 years.  I made two banners for alpaca owners one for myself as shown in the picture, and one for Pebblebrook Farm Alpaca’s.  I have taught a class in my home on locker hooking.

As a young teen I learned how to knit and sew in 4-H.  I have since learned how to cross stitch, crochet, spin, dye and process fiber as well as weave and knit on my antique sock machine.  As you see I am a crafty person!

I belong to two guilds Spinners Flock in Chelsea where I am currently Treasure II and Fleece Fair Treasurer and Black Sheep Weavers Guild in Hartland were I am currently keeper of the sale tags.   I am  working on knitting myself an Alpaca coat and sweater with my handspun yarn from my own herd of alpacas.
